40 Days of Focus: Day 20

Day 20: Ready or Not…

Reflect On: Matthew 26:36-46

“Get up. Let us be going.”

In the Garden of Good Intentions, the disciples were not ready.

As we have seen, they were sleeping.  Never the less, the time had come. Jesus had heard from the Father.  It was time. The disciples would have heard from the Father as well, but as we mentioned, they were sleeping.  Even though He had not yet slept, Jesus was ready for the day.  The day all of creation had been waiting for was about to begin and the disciples were tired. They had not finished sleeping.  “Get up!”Jesus says. Jesus was the “Chosen One” and he was determined to do the will of the Father even unto death.  We too are chosen like the disciples, to do the will of the Father.  Will we stay asleep in the Garden of Good intentions?  Or will we awaken and seize the day of the Lord.

Jesus is awake and alive!  Jesus is still hearing from the Father.  Jesus is  still “The Chosen One” who is determined to do the will of God no matter what the cost.  Jesus is still alert and ready for action.  He does not slumber.  He does not sleep.  He is still changing human history through chosen people like you and me.  Are you still sleeping in the Garden of Good Intentions?  Get up! It is time!  Let us be going!

What is a Faith Promise?  Glad you asked!

Just as a missionary is called to the mission field so also are those who partner with them through regular prayers and gifts.  A Faith Promise is the amount of money a ministry partner promises to give to a ministry out of obedience to the leading of Holy Spirit.  It is an amount of money missionaries can count on each month from a specific ministry partner.  Missionaries like us cannot step onto the mission field of their calling without the faith promises of God’s people  who partner to send them. Missionaries cannot go without being sent!
