Day 9: Steadfastness
Read and Reflect On: Psalm 108
“My Heart is Steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast… With God we shall do valiantly…”
When we determine in our hearts to fast something, we are not just being obedient to God. We are endeavoring to trade our strength of will for a change of character. This happens through greater reliance upon out creator and less trust in our own might.
Steadfastness in anything we determine to do can become a fleshly pursuit if we have decided to go forward on our own. In Psalm 108, God is consistently exalted. The psalmist understands that his steadfastness is the result of God’s faithfulness rather than his own abilities. We can only live truly valiant lives when God is our source of power over the enemy.
As you read this psalm and as you determine to fast and pray, do not forget the source of strength available to you through Jesus Christ.
What is a Faith Promise? Glad you asked!
Just as a missionary is called to the mission field so also are those who partner with them through regular prayers and gifts. A Faith Promise is the amount of money a ministry partner promises to give to a ministry out of obedience to the leading of Holy Spirit. It is an amount of money missionaries can count on each month from a specific ministry partner. Missionaries like us cannot step onto the mission field of their calling without the faith promises of God’s people who partner to send them. Missionaries cannot go without being sent!
