40 Days of Focus: Day 8

Day 8: An Undivided Heart

Read and Reflect On: Psalm 86

“Teach me your way O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart to revere your name.””

What is on your heart right now? Is it with Christ and Christ alone? Do you desire nothing but to know the Lord Jesus?  It is hard to say yes? I often find myself wrestling against my desires, the things that keep me from whole-hearted devotion.

When we fast and pray, we are not asking God to answer our prayers as if our fasting and our prayers are currency that will pay for a blessing.  Instead, fasting and prayer leads us into whole-hearted devotion.  We intentionally sit at the feet of Jesus because He deserves nothing less than all of us and everything we can give. God wants to hear our petitions. He knows what they are before we even ask.  However, He wants our hearts as well.  It is easier to give God our hand than it is to give him our heart.

Christ certainly gave you all of Himself, every drop! Shouldn’t we aspire to give Him nothing less? Ask God to teach you His ways and give you an undivided heart just as the psalmist does in verse 11.  Ask Him to help you bring all of yourself to Him along with your requests.

What is a Faith Promise?  Glad you asked!

Just as a missionary is called to the mission field so also are those who partner with them through regular prayers and gifts.  A Faith Promise is the amount of money a ministry partner promises to give to a ministry out of obedience to the leading of Holy Spirit.  It is an amount of money missionaries can count on each month from a specific ministry partner.  Missionaries like us cannot step onto the mission field of their calling without the faith promises of God’s people  who partner to send them. Missionaries cannot go without being sent!
