40 Days of Focus: Day 2

IMG_2631Day 2: Striving For The Kingdom In Prayer

Read and Reflect On: Luke 12:22-34

“…it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

Sometimes we can get so distracted by all the little things that we miss the one important thing. In Luke 12, Jesus reminds us of the one important thing, namely our identity as a citizen in the kingdom of God.  As a citizen in God’s kingdom (and as His children), we can trust in the heavenly Father’s provision. As our faith increases, our physical needs (food and clothing) become less important to us than our spiritual needs (love of God and others). Fasting and regular prayer and devotion is important for eliminating distractions and focusing us on Christ.

As you pray and fast, remember the words of Jesus in Luke 12 and do not worry about the little things. Focus on who you are in Christ and loving Jesus and others with all that you have.  Let God worry about everything else.

What is a Faith Promise?  Glad you asked!

Just as a missionary is called to the mission field so also are those who partner with them through regular prayers and gifts.  A Faith Promise is the amount of money a ministry partner promises to give to a ministry out of obedience to the leading of Holy Spirit.  It is an amount of money missionaries can count on each month from a specific ministry partner.  Missionaries like us cannot step onto the mission field of their calling without the faith promises of God’s people  who partner to send them. Missionaries cannot go without being sent!
