40 Days of Focus: Day 1

Day 1: The Lord Is Near

Read and Reflect On: Psalm 145

“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in Truth.”

Often the busyness of life robs us of the nearness of God.  A regular time of devotion can help us get reacquainted with God, reminding us of the truth of who God is and what God is about.  God desires to be near to us and we were made to be near to God.

Psalm 145 proclaims God’s goodness and greatness in a very personal way.  The writer starts by making bold statements of devotion to God and then continues by boasting of God’s goodness and greatness. Verse 18 promises the nearness of God for all who call on Him in truth.  As you read Psalm 145, share the writer’s convictions; adopt them as your own. Let the words of the Psalm ring true in your heart. Invite and experience the God of Heaven.

What is a Faith Promise?  Glad you asked!

Just as a missionary is called to the mission field so also are those who partner with them through regular prayers and gifts.  A Faith Promise is the amount of money a ministry partner promises to give to a ministry out of obedience to the leading of Holy Spirit.  It is an amount of money missionaries can count on each month from a specific ministry partner.  Missionaries like us cannot step onto the mission field of their calling without the faith promises of God’s people  who partner to send them. Missionaries cannot go without being sent!
